01Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of The C.A.R. App and this website, operated under the name Canadian Auto Registry ("C.A.R.", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

02What the App does

The C.A.R. App is a digital vehicle wallet. It lets you store vehicle records, receive reminders and safety-recall alerts, and transfer vehicle records to other users during private sales. The App is a record-keeping and convenience tool. It is not a government service, is not affiliated with any provincial or federal registry, and does not itself register, license, or insure vehicles.

03Your account

You must be old enough to enter a binding contract in your province of residence to use the App. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Sign-in is available through Apple, Google, or email and password.

04Your responsibilities

When using the App, you agree that you will:

• Provide accurate information about yourself and your vehicles;
• Only add vehicles and documents you have the right to add;
• Not use the App to deceive, defraud, or mislead another person, including in a private sale;
• Not upload unlawful, infringing, or harmful content;
• Not attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the App or its systems;
• Comply with all applicable laws when buying, selling, or transferring a vehicle.

05Vehicle records & accuracy

Information in the App, including vehicle details, service history, recall status, and any records shown to a potential buyer, is provided by users or drawn from third-party data sources. We do not independently verify this information and do not guarantee its accuracy or completeness. You should independently confirm any information that matters to a purchase or sale decision, including through official sources and a professional inspection.

06Vehicle transfers

The App's transfer feature moves a vehicle's digital record between users. A transfer within the App is not a legal change of vehicle ownership or registration. You remain responsible for completing all official steps required by your province — such as registration, plate, and tax obligations — through the proper authorities. The App is a convenience tool and does not replace any government process.

As described in our Privacy Policy, completed transfers create a permanent record of the transaction, including the parties involved.

07Third-party data & links

The App uses third-party data sources, including public vehicle-decoding and recall databases, and may link to external services such as vehicle history report providers or manufacturer websites. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party services, their content, or their accuracy. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms.

08Intellectual property

The C.A.R. App, its name, logo, design, and content (other than content you provide) are owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the App without our permission. You keep ownership of the content you upload, and grant us the limited rights needed to store and display it to operate the App for you.

09Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that reminders, recall alerts, or notifications will always be delivered on time. Do not rely solely on the App for legal, safety, or financial decisions.

10Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the App. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

11Termination

You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time from within the App. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or use the App in a way that harms other users or us. Some records, such as completed transfer records, are retained after account deletion as described in our Privacy Policy.

12Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Continuing to use the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

13Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be handled by the courts located in Ontario, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
